I gotta admit, I have sweet tooth, desserts like ice-creams, chocolates, puddings, cakes, sweet dessert soup are totally to die for no matter how full I am. I shall say, a meal is never complete without desserts. Agree?

After eating desserts at Honeymoon Dessert and our main course of Pork Lard Mee at Ren He Shan Bao, Emilz took us to a shop where the shaved ice is a MUST TRY!

I’m totally up for it! Although we have taken desserts as appetizer earlier. LOL.

We went there about 10~11pm and walk through quite a journey from the MTR before reaching Tong Pak Fu. This branch is pretty hidden, it’s located at one of the quiet and dark road, you’ll see lights from a shop with customers waiting outside, I dun think tourist like us would be able to find it.

So, there were we at 糖百府 – Tong Pak Fu. No. This is not the Flirting Scholar of Tong Pak Fu Dim Chao Hiong (唐伯虎點秋香) movie. It’s a cafe restaurant which specializes in Taiwanese desserts especially the shaved ice. They are quite famous, you’ll see lotsa write ups on newspaper about them.

It seems to be popular among the locals here. It was packed and I was quite surprise to see the line ups outside the shop.

But lady luck was with us, we found a table in less than 5 minutes! (others who came earlier were still waiting!)

The ambience at Tong Pak Fu is kinda comfortable. You can sit there and have a nice chat with ur friends while slowly enjoying the shaved ice, but dun hog the table for too long la… coz a lot of customers waiting outside.

The shaved ice is unlike the usual ice-kacang or ABC we eat here in Malaysia where we still need to bite the ice when eaten. Their ice are flavored and thinly shaved, it’s really light and fluffy in texture like eating clouds, literally. It melts immediately the moment you put in your mouth!

Green Tea Matcha Shaved Ice Milk (宇治金时) – HKD$ 35, about RM14.40

Green tea Matcha Shaved Ice Milk have strong Green Tea taste and it comes with green jelly, white tapioca pearls, grass jelly, red bean and condensed milk.

I totally love the part where you can taste the green tea together with the condensed milk, I wallop almost the whole bowl of this.

Emilz ordered for Horlicks Shaved Ice Milk (好力克秋香) - HKD$ 35, about RM14.40

The toppings are strawberry, cotton candy with crystal pearl (these are direct translation from mandarin). The Horlicks shave ice taste kind unique but I dun really fancy it, Horlicks just doesn’t go well with the sour strawberries.

The Pomegranate Shaved Ice Milk (石榴秋香) – HKD $38, about RM15.60 is the best among the three we ordered.

The promegrenates shaved ice is really refreshing, it’ll be great dessert to cool you down on hot weather.

The toppings are honeydew, crystal pearl and another thing I’m not too sure what is it called. I think this is the crystal pearl, it is not the usual pearl which you need to chew. Pop it in your mouth and you”ll taste the juices of passion fruit.

I totally recommend this!

I’m not sure why I see mango desserts every where in Hong Kong. If you couldn’t decide which to order, then try ordering mango series, you can never go wrong as their mango are really fresh, sweet and juicy! They also have specialties which is available on certain days ONLY.

They do have other specialties as well. I’m salivating by just looking at these pics. Damn!

I regretted that I din order their Durian Shaved Ice Milk and dun have a chance coz it seems to be available during summer ONLY. =( I’m dying to know the taste of durian shaved ice. Anyone able to share with me?

Besides that, you can actually customize your own shaved ice with toppings too! I din customized mine coz I have totally no idea which goes together the best.

Dun forget to hunt for this when u make a trip to Hong Kong k? The branch I went to is located at Hak Po Street (黑布街), Mongkok. It’s a MUST MUST MUST TRY.

Oh yeah..try going to their toilet.! The toilet is actually outside their shop and they’ll pass you this.
